The UK branch of Israeli cosmetics store, Ahava, is moving from its central London shop after years of pro-Palestinian demonstrations.
Protesters claim that the products sold in the store are manufactured in a factory in Israeli settlement, Mitzpe Shalom in the West Bank but are "misleadingly" labelled as produced in Israel.
The owner of the shop, currently in Monmouth Street, Covent Garden, is looking for other sites after owners of neighbouring stores complained to the landlord following protests.
Supporters claim it has been "chased out" of its location by regular "noisy and intimidating" demonstrations.
A spokeswoman for Shaftesbury PLC, which owns the property as well as several others in the Seven Dials area, said: "When Ahava's lease expires in September, we will not offer them a new one."
Pro-Palestinian protesters have been demonstrating fortnightly outside the shop, which opened in April 2007, for more than two years. A counter group of pro-Israeli supporters also demonstrate outside.
The owner of the store next door shows the spinelessness we can expect from much of the UK:
Colin George, manager of clothes shop The Loft, next door to Ahava, said: "I'm pleased Ahava is leaving. It's brought the street down. I've complained to the landlords, as has everyone here. Everyone would like them to leave. I wish they had left two years ago.
"Protesters are just going to follow them around, wherever they go. Maybe they should be an online business instead."
Perhaps it is time to stage noisy protests outside The Loft? Then Mr. George can follow his own advice!
After all, he believes that any group can shut down any shop they want to, just by acting obnoxious.

COTABATO, Philippines — Nine people were killed on Thursday when a bomb exploded aboard a packed passenger bus in the troubled southern Philippines, authorities said.
The military and police said Muslim militants or bandits who are known to operate on the southern island of Mindanao could have been behind the attack, with extortion a possible motive.
"The bus company has long been receiving extortion letters from armed groups operating in the region," regional military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Randolph Cabangbang said.
The bomb was apparently hidden inside a bag placed in a luggage compartment at the back of the bus, and exploded just after a group of men who were suspected to have planted it got off the vehicle, Cabangdang said.
Bus driver Arlan Tadeo, 38, who was unharmed in the incident, said there were 60 passengers on board when the explosion occurred.
"I saw in the rear-view mirror shattered blood-stained windows," he said.

Muslim Death Threats as a Matter of Policy
Ok, let's recap. Wali ur-Rehman, a senior Taliban commander, recently issued a direct threat against the Netherlands and the Dutch people. (here)
"The Dutch government is on a dangerous course," he was quoted on Friday, October 1, in the Dutch TV program RTL4 News. "Therefore, we will teach them a lesson and they will pay a price because of recent anti-Islam laws." A direct threat to stage terrorist attacks in Holland. Obviously, Taliban terrorist leaders are following closely what is happening both in Europe and Holland.
Free speech is insulting. No free speech. Do not insult Islam. Do not reveal the truth about Islam. No historical accuracy or context.

Using the GZMosque for Purposes of Extortion
Blackmailing America.
911 attack, part II: trafficking/profiting in the pain of a nation.
As the obvious ultimate insult becomes more painful, and the polls overwhelmingly oppose the Ground Zero mosque, thug developer Sharif El Gamal et al are dictating the terms (the booty) for taking Ground Zero hostage with an Islamic supremacist mosque on the site of the 911 attack.
Geraldo Rivera (the clownish messenger) is on O'Reilly, showing off that he is on the inside with Muslims in the know, wink, wink, nod nod, as a compromise is being hammered out with these stealth jihadists.
According to Geraldo's inside jizz, a "major [Muslim] 'civil rights activist' close to the prime developer" -- (uh, can you say Hamas-linked, Muslim Brotherhood proxy?) dictates the terms as follows.
* If they are to be paid off, they expect at least four times what they paid for the Burlington property. (Nice, huh?)
* If it's a property switch, it must be a "better commercial value in the immediate vicinity" of Ground Zero, south of Houston street and perhaps east of Broadway.
Exploiting 911. Ugh.
It is galling that we the taxpayers are going to pay a jizya for this stealth jihadist to do the decent and moral thing.
Apparently this crew is capable of neither decency nor morality.
It is tempting to want to negotiate this terrible "attack" away, but it's like negotiating with terrorists. It will set a very bad precedent -- city funded mosques or state sponsored Islam.
This is wrong. They are wrong. They should not be rewarded. The taxpayer should not pay this ransom.

Controlling the Oil Supply
Years ago the auto companies bought streetcar outfits and
tore up the tracks.In a similar fashion the oil firms have secured alternative
energy patents and have accumulated great numbers of oil leases.They are not
increasing refinery capacity or oil exploration.
The President has suggested offshore leasing and opening the
Alaskan Wildlife reserves. He doesn't mention that fruition of these projects
is eight to ten years away. Also, he fails to say the oil companies do not
intend to start drilling in these areas.
The oil company's tactic is to administer gas prices by
having a lock on the supply side. There is no legal way to accomplish this.
They need the complicity of corrupt officials and mis-informed consumers.
The US Iraq war effort aimed to extort 71% of existing oil
well revenues. The oil companies wanted a 49% hunk of new oil finds.
After Iraq
resisted this effort for several years, the President threw a candy to the
companies: leases offshore and in Alaska.
Through NAFTA the US has first option to buy Canadian
tar oil extractions.
For years now most OPEC nations have nationalized oil
production. Thanks to this the Norwegians have the highest per capita income.

Prosecuting Politicians
Running for political office is an expensive proposition. The candidate must ask contributors to enter a speculative enterprise with no guarantees.
With such long odds, the investors insist on a disproportionate reward. Often, this involves criminal activities. This opens the candidate to blackmail and extortion.
Success opens the new official to the suspicion of his peers. They arrange for law enforcement to examine his background fully to establish evidence to prosecute him. This forces him to comply with party orders the wishes of his faction.
They increase this hold on him with fresh bribes and a laundry list of privileges. If he indulges in aberrations frowned upon by the conventionally wise, so much the better.
Thus, with few exceptions, politicians are afraid to rock the boat. Whistle blower types rarely appear in the Congress. Even a temporary fit of good conscience or a sudden burst of public service can ruin a promising career.
The Congress is a millionaire’s club and a society of enemy combatants one step from Gitmo. By executive order the President can assemble the dossiers already compiled and send the lot of legislators to detention and torture without trial.

Terrorism is Extortion on a National Level

Where is our cry? Where is our resistance? Still in Lebanon, Ibn Bint Jbeil posts a number of paintings and cartoons to drive home the suffering in Gaza. He also writes: Gaza, Palestine, the largest concentration camp on Earth, is today under the most brutal, inhumane, genocidal siege. May God protect and bless them.

If Gaza is not self-sufficient, it was rather foolish of her to attack preemptively the fourth strongest military establishment in the world. When my stepson was much younger, he succeeded with a similar tactic. He spat into the family Coca Cola bottle so none of the others would drink from it. When a neighbor attacked me and ripped my shirt, I opened it more widely to benefit my case before the Police.
After Israel used Eastern European laborers to replace Arabs, a number of them wanted their old jobs back. A number of fathers lost the rights to welfare for their four wives. The Arab States provided the final setback by reducing grants-in-aid across the boards. With massive walls in place, the final Israeli step was to withdraw from the territory. Everybody in the region would have been better off if both sides had completely ignored one another.
No Israeli administration would survive another concession for a peace that will never materialize.
