A gunman opened fire at a public elementary school in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday and killed at least 11 students before killing himself.
Earlier, police said at least 13 people died in the shooting, but Rio state Health Secretary Sergio Cortes said 10 girls and one boy were killed, along with the gunman. The ages of the children were not immediately known.
Officials said the 23-year-old gunman was a former student at the Tasso da Silveira school, located in a working-class neighborhood in western Rio. A motive was not immediately known, but authorities said the man left a rambling and mostly incoherent letter at the scene indicating he wanted to kill himself.
I had to go to Al Arabiya to find out that he was a convert to Islam, that the letter said that Islam was the true religion and that the letter glorified terrorism and suicide bombings.
Brazilian media is frightened of a growing Islamist movement associated with Al Qaeda that is operation in South America, according to Al Arabiya.
Whether Islam had anything to do with his actions remains to be seen. It seems, though, that the English-language media has already decided that his fascination with Islamist terror is not an important detail to mention in the thousands of stories already published on the incident.

I´ve just seen a part of the letter left by the murderer, and it´s not clear from it that he was muslim. Though that part mentions his desire of a burial with some islamic traits, it later says he expects to be resurrected by the coming of Jesus.
So, till now, it just seems he was a religious fundamentalist nut, maybe evangelical, maybe not.
Al Arabiya is pretty clear that he was a convert, but he might not have quite gotten the concept....

I'm Brazilian and I've been following this story the whole day (though not quite closely). It seems the bits of info that the shooter was HIV-positive and Muslim were rumours (the first was said by a politician, a "vice-mayor"). I've read the whole letter and it doesn't mention anything Islamic. (The obsession with cleaning and purity etc. cannot be attributed to Islamism on his part, since he mentions Jesus later on).
However, ..his sister told the media that he was "obsessed with Muslim things" (that was what the media was reporting, that she said that). If he was "obsessed" or something like that with some religion, no common person would say, out of the blue, that it was with Muslim religion if that person didn't hear/see for certain that it was Muslim - they'd say "church", "evangelical" etc. (in Brazil). I mean, that is very specific and the general common Brazilian person don't even know what "Muslim" or Islam is. And she said, together with that mention of Islam, that he'd grown a long beard the last time she saw him.

Failed Iraqi asylum seeker Ayad Mahmood, 35, and Aziz Sabir Hamed, 24, were both given a ten-year sentence.
FEBRUARY 2010: ROCHDALE VICTIM, 16, RAPED BY THREE MEN WHILE FOURTH TOOK PICTURES
Ajmal Afridi, 19, Imitiaz Syed, 20, Tayub Hussain, 19, Mustafa Arshad, 17, and Mohammed Usman Raja, 20, were all jailed for their part in the assault.
The girl was given whisky and possibly sleeping tablets before being raped by Afridi, Syed and Hussain while Arshad took pictures.
She was later found wandering the streets. Raja was jailed for perverting the course of justice.
NOVEMBER 2010: THE DERBY CASE
In one of the most notorious incidents of street grooming to date, nine men were convicted of abusing young girls.
Abid Siddique, 27, Mohammed Liaqat, 28, Mohamed Imran Rehman, 26, Faisal Mehmood, 24, Akshay Kumar, 38, Naweed Liaqat, 33, Farooq Ahmed, 29, Graham Blackham, 26 and Ziafat Yasin, 31, were jailed for their parts in the shocking case.
More than 100 police officers were involved in Operation Retriever, which identified 27 victims, 22 of whom were white.
Siddique and Liaqat targeted their victims on the streets of Derby while driving in a BMW.
They then exchanged number, invited them to parties and fed them drugs and alcohol before handing them to older men for sex.
The abuse, which took place in bushes, cars and houses was filmed for ther men to share.

Shortly after the November elections, The Heritage Foundation released A Checklist for Congress calling on the 112th to honor the voters who elected them to Congress by (1) freezing and cutting spending, (2) repealing Obamacare, (3) stopping the Obama tax increases, (4) protecting America, and (5) getting control of government. That last item is perhaps the most significant, and it is exactly why the 112th’s return to the Constitution is so important. Our Constitution is a document of limited, enumerated powers, forming the architecture of our liberty. It is the way "We the people" control the government.
But not everyone sees it this way. The New York Times editorializes this morning: "There is a similar air of vacuous fundamentalism in requiring that every bill cite the Constitutional power given to Congress to enact it." We’ll let President Abraham Lincoln respond:

Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary and close confidante to President Obama, said Wednesday that he will step down and become an outside political adviser to the president and his re-election campaign.
Mr. Gibbs said that he intends to leave the podium in early February. His successor has not yet been decided, he said, but will likely be announced within the next two weeks.
President Obama, who is in the midst of making final decisions on the first major reorganization of his administration, said in a brief telephone interview on Wednesday that Mr. Gibbs would remain aa close adviser and “will continue to shape the dialogue politically for many years to come.”

Hamas Group CAIR Pushes for Islamic Law (Sharia) in Indiana
There is no more radical, extreme system of governance than Islamic law (sharia). Indiana is proposing a bill that would ban sharia. I pray that they vet the language of the bill with legal experts on sharia (ie David Yerushalmi), so that they don't lose on a technicality. The Oklahoma ban was brilliant but poorly worded and had 70% of voters approving of it -- it is clear that American people understand the Islamic threat to our constituional republic.
Check out the media's Muslim propaganda of a terror-supporting Hamas proxy as a "leading Muslim advocacy group" .... so is al qaeda, for that matter.

The Tribune-Star of Terre Haute reports that Republican state Rep. Bruce Borders plans to introduce a bill saying the state "does not recognize Sharia law."
The Council on American-Islamic Relations said Tuesday that it has written all members of the Indiana General Assembly, urging them not to consider such a bill.
The group says the proposal is a "fear-mongering" attack on Islam and "un-American to its core." It says Sharia is a guide to Islamic religious practice and is similar to those I other religious traditions.

We rank at the bottom in Math and Science of all industrialized nations. We spend the most per child and rank 27th and 29th respectively among industrialized nations. The public schools have stopped teaching cursive writing. They are dumbing down of our kids.

As the Muslim student population grows in Minnesota, some educators detect a glaring gap: a dearth of books the students can relate to and from which others can learn.
"There wasn't a whole lot in our library that provided a sense of 'this is what's normal,'" said Julie Scullen, a reading intervention specialist at Northdale Middle School in Coon Rapids, where she took stock of books about Muslims growing up in America.
When colleague Beth Braun, a Northdale media specialist, launched a full-blown national search, she didn't have much luck, either.
"The books are more about what it's like to live in another country and be a Muslim, or what it's like to be from a war-torn nation, not what it's like to be a teenager in America and be a Muslim," Braun said. "Those books are few and far between."
Librarians in some other school districts tell a similar tale.
"I have really not come across anything," said Linda Goering, library media specialist at Robbinsdale Middle School.
Many educators say it's critical for students to have books in which they can see themselves.

"The absence of such stories leads to poor grades in school, feelings of loneliness and alienation, and low self-esteem," said Shamma, who is working on an anthology of Muslim literature directed at middle-school-age students.

Leah Larson, media specialist at Richfield Middle School, sees an appetite for such books. She pointed to a novel in her media center, "Does My Head Look Big in This?", about an 11th-grade Muslim girl growing up in Australia who decides to wear the hijab, the traditional Muslim head covering, full time.
"I just can't keep it on the shelf," Larson said of the book.
"We have tons of books about Islam. However, the fiction is harder to find. ... If there are any smart American authors, they'll start writing books like this."

At Northdale Middle School, in the Anoka-Hennepin district, Scullen said the idea of getting more books aimed at Muslim kids "has been brewing in my head for a couple of years."
In September, she read an article citing the need to help students learn about the different cultures represented by their classmates. Using an $800 grant from the Anoka-Hennepin Educational Foundation, Braun and Scullen ordered 30 to 40 books for their library.

The 112th Congress has a lot of work to do. Shortly after the November elections, The Heritage Foundation released A Checklist for Congress calling on the 112th to honor the voters who elected them to Congress by (1) freezing and cutting spending, (2) repealing Obamacare, (3) stopping the Obama tax increases, (4) protecting America, and (5) getting control of government. That last item is perhaps the most significant, and it is exactly why the 112th’s return to the Constitution is so important. Our Constitution is a document of limited, enumerated powers, forming the architecture of our liberty. It is the way "We the people" control the government.
But not everyone sees it this way. The New York Times editorializes this morning: "There is a similar air of vacuous fundamentalism in requiring that every bill cite the Constitutional power given to Congress to enact it." We’ll let President Abraham Lincoln respond:

Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary and close confidante to President Obama, said Wednesday that he will step down and become an outside political adviser to the president and his re-election campaign.
Mr. Gibbs said that he intends to leave the podium in early February. His successor has not yet been decided, he said, but will likely be announced within the next two weeks.
President Obama, who is in the midst of making final decisions on the first major reorganization of his administration, said in a brief telephone interview on Wednesday that Mr. Gibbs would remain aa close adviser and “will continue to shape the dialogue politically for many years to come.”

Hamas Group CAIR Pushes for Islamic Law (Sharia) in Indiana
There is no more radical, extreme system of governance than Islamic law (sharia). Indiana is proposing a bill that would ban sharia. I pray that they vet the language of the bill with legal experts on sharia (ie David Yerushalmi), so that they don't lose on a technicality. The Oklahoma ban was brilliant but poorly worded and had 70% of voters approving of it -- it is clear that American people understand the Islamic threat to our constituional republic.

INDIANAPOLIS — A leading Muslim advocacy group is calling on Indiana legislators to reject a proposal a bill that would deny recognition of the Islamic legal system Sharia in the state.
The Tribune-Star of Terre Haute reports that Republican state Rep. Bruce Borders plans to introduce a bill saying the state "does not recognize Sharia law."
The Council on American-Islamic Relations said Tuesday that it has written all members of the Indiana General Assembly, urging them not to consider such a bill.
The group says the proposal is a "fear-mongering" attack on Islam and "un-American to its core." It says Sharia is a guide to Islamic religious practice and is similar to those I other religious traditions.

As the Muslim student population grows in Minnesota, some educators detect a glaring gap: a dearth of books the students can relate to and from which others can learn.
"There wasn't a whole lot in our library that provided a sense of 'this is what's normal,'" said Julie Scullen, a reading intervention specialist at Northdale Middle School in Coon Rapids, where she took stock of books about Muslims growing up in America.
When colleague Beth Braun, a Northdale media specialist, launched a full-blown national search, she didn't have much luck, either.
"The books are more about what it's like to live in another country and be a Muslim, or what it's like to be from a war-torn nation, not what it's like to be a teenager in America and be a Muslim," Braun said. "Those books are few and far between."
Librarians in some other school districts tell a similar tale.
"I have really not come across anything," said Linda Goering, library media specialist at Robbinsdale Middle School.
Many educators say it's critical for students to have books in which they can see themselves.

"The absence of such stories leads to poor grades in school, feelings of loneliness and alienation, and low self-esteem," said Shamma, who is working on an anthology of Muslim literature directed at middle-school-age students.

She pointed to a novel in her media center, "Does My Head Look Big in This?", about an 11th-grade Muslim girl growing up in Australia who decides to wear the hijab, the traditional Muslim head covering, full time.
"I just can't keep it on the shelf," Larson said of the book.
"We have tons of books about Islam. However, the fiction is harder to find. ... If there are any smart American authors, they'll start writing books like this."

At Northdale Middle School, in the Anoka-Hennepin district, Scullen said the idea of getting more books aimed at Muslim kids "has been brewing in my head for a couple of years."
In September, she read an article citing the need to help students learn about the different cultures represented by their classmates. Using an $800 grant from the Anoka-Hennepin Educational Foundation, Braun and Scullen ordered 30 to 40 books for their library.

France Steels Herself for Car Burning

France braces for annual New Year's car torchings Reuters
PARIS (Reuters) – France will deploy extra police and keep vandalism statistics under wraps on New Year's Eve to fight what authorities say has become an annual "sweepstakes" of disaffected [Muslim] youths competing to see who can burn the most cars.
Youths in depressed suburbs of French cities have been torching hundreds of vehicles on New Year's Eve and Bastille Day since the early 1990s. Police say the annual rite has turned competitive, with youths tracking the news in the first days of the new year to see which neighborhood did the most damage.
"I have decided to put an end to the competition, the sweepstakes, and will longer publish the number of burned vehicles," Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux said this week, adding that publishing statistics encouraged vandalism.
Opposition politicians described the move as an attempt by President Nicolas Sarkozy's conservative government to cover up the violence.
"The government tends to eliminate unfavorable indicators. The interior minister has been publishing trumped-up statistics for years, and now Hortefeux is going even further," Socialist deputy Delphine Batho, a security specialist, told Reuters.
Last year, the Interior Ministry said 1,137 cars had been torched, a 30 percent rise on 2008. French media reported at the time that several thousand cars had been burned.
Nearly 54,000 police officers will be deployed across France, a rise of some 6,000 compared to normal New Year's Eve staffing levels, and additional command posts set up in several cities, Hortefeux said on Friday.
The image of burning cars remains particularly evocative in France in the wake of urban riots in December 2005. Sarkozy came to power in 2007 promising to quell violence, but crime and vandalism have inched up in the past year.
Arson in France's "sensitive urban areas" rose by 17.2 percent between 2008 and 2009, according to a 2010 study by the Observatory of Sensitive Urban Zones. In 2009 a total of 12,874 cars were burned, it reported.

A short chapter in a strange kind of understanding in Germany, the establishment of institutions for for the training of Islamic chaplain in the Army and the Waffen-SS dar.
During World War II on German side fought for different reasons, many Muslims. It was often common enemy (communism, Jews) or to escape a pragmatic collaboration and the desire of a prisoner of war marked by deadly famine, the Muslims led to the German side. A short chapter in a strange kind of understanding in Germany, the establishment of institutions for for the training of Islamic chaplain in the Army and the Waffen-SS dar.
During World War II on German side fought for different reasons, many Muslims. Muslim Dad Murders Daughter for Going with Hindi
Muslim girl killed for love affair with Hindu Hindustan Times
A Muslim man has been arrested for killing his teenaged daughter who was in love with a Hindu youth from the same village, police said on Thursday. Mushtakeem, a resident of Mawaithakuran village, strangled his 18-year-old daughter Rehana Parveen after she insisted on marrying her lover Bhoora Prajapati, 21, police said.
Mushtakeem was arrested late on Wednesday after Parveen's body was recovered from their home. The village is in Moradabad district, some 300 km from Lucknow.
According to police, Prajapati and Parveen used to meet regularly in the fields on the outskirts of the village. But as Parveen had not been coming for the last few days, Prajapati approached police suspecting the girl could be in trouble.
Police raided Mushtakeem's house and recovered his daughter's body from a locked room.
"Preliminary investigations indicate it's a case of honour killing. The father has confessed to the crime," police inspector Ravi Kumar told reporters on Thursday.
"The father told us he committed the crime as he thought his daughter's marriage with the youth of a different community would bring a bad name to the family," he added.
According to police, besides the father, the girl's family members could also be involved in the crime.

A Muslim man set fire to a Coptic young man, murdered his father and wounded his younger brother, after it was rumored that the young Copt allegedly had a relationship with the Muslim man's sister. The silence of Obama, once again, embarrasses this great and more moral nation.

Muslim Burns a Young Copt Alive and Murders His Father Because of a Rumor Voice of the Copts
A Muslim man set fire to a Coptic young man, murdered his father and wounded his younger brother, after it was rumored that the young Copt allegedly had a relationship with the Muslim man's sister!!
The events took place in the small village of "Dmas" Meet-Ghamr, after a rumor spread around of a relationship between the 25-year-old Copt Shihata Sabri, and the sister of a Muslim man named Yasser Ahmed Qasim.
Yasser went to Coptic Shehata, holding a gasoline canister, poured it over him and set him on fire, as bystanders looked on in horror. The young Copt threw himself into the adjacent canal to try to put out the flames from his burning body. The fire left burns all over his body, leading to his death.
Following this incident, people in the village rallied and when the 60-years-old Sabri Shehata, father of the Coptic victim arrived, he was attacked by a group of Muslims stabbing him with knives and daggers; one stab penetrated his back to come out of his abdomen below the rib cage, resulting in his death, after being transferred to hospital.
A Coptic witness said that Yasser Ahmed, who is reputed to be a thug, and others have also beaten the Coptic victim's younger brother, 22-year old Rami Sabri Shehata, causing a deep injury to his head.
The security forces moved into the village of Dmas, which has a population of 60,000 people, including over 1000 Copts, surrounded the victims' house and deployed extra forces throughout the village.
The offenders were arrested together with the accused Yasser Ahmed Kassem and his friend, as well as the Copt Shehata Sabry who was held in custody in Dmas Hospital. The offenders were charged with deliberate homicide.
The body of Coptic victim Sabri Shehata was released for burial after prayers took place at the Church of Our Lady in the village of Dakados, which lies 20 kilometers from Dmas, amid a tight security siege.
A Muslim villager portrayed the incident as an honour killing stressing that it was because of Coptic Shehata Sabri teasing Yasser about a relationship he has with his sister, which prompted him and his friend to pour gasoline all over the Copt before setting him on fire. He denied that this incident will have an impact on the relations between the Muslims and Copts in the village.

Anas, now in judicial custody and lodged in the Viyyur central jail in connection with the case, won from the division defeating the nearest UDF candidate by a margin of more than 1,000 votes, while the LDF candidate came third.

In new book, judge who killed herself writes that drug gangs are recruiting young refugees into a life of crime under the noses of German authorities.
Arabic drug cartels are trafficking children and youths from Palestinian refugee camps into Germany, according to excerpts published Monday of a book by a Berlin youth judge who killed herself last month.
Kirsten Heisig wrote in an unpublished book that young Palestinian asylum seekers often gave suspiciously similar reasons for coming to Germany.
In her book, The End of Patience, Heisig described the process by which children and youths were flown in from the Lebanese capital, Beirut, by traffickers who took their passports and promised them a better life.
In Germany, these young people disappeared from youth homes and were taken in by their own communities, where they were taught how to master the drug trade, Heisig wrote in a section of her book.
The judge said it had struck her how often youths she sentenced for heroin trafficking in central Berlin had actually been assigned to care homes across Germany, where their disappearance was merely registered with the authorities.
The gangs' latest trend is to fetch young people under the age of 14," Heisig wrote, explaining, "This has the particular appeal of lacking the threat of punishment." The judge also criticized the German authorities for failing to perform rigorous checks on young asylum seekers entering the country.

WESLEY CHAPEL — A 22-year-old man wandered into a day care Wednesday afternoon, screaming and ranting — and carrying a set of brass knuckles combined with a five-bladed knife, authorities said.
Ottis Ryan, 22, rang the doorbell of the Little Pioneers Daycare Center at 6631 Boyette Road about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Suspicious, daycare employee Susan Singletary dialed 911 as she retreated into the daycare. But Ryan followed her into the playroom.
"Don't listen to God. He is not real. Listen to Allah," he yelled at Singletary and other employees, according to Pasco County Sheriff's Office spokesman Kevin Doll. "Don't feed those crying babies. Let them die. It is time."
As Singletary blocked the entrance to the infant room, she asked him what he was carrying in his bookbag, hoping to distract him until authorities arrived. Ryan pulled out a combination brass knuckles-knife weapon, Doll said.
By the time a deputy arrived, Ryan was on his knees, as if praying. "I am a supreme being, and I wanted to cleanse the babies," he told the deputy. "I am here through God."
The deputy arrested Ryan, of 30718 Clearview Drive in Wesley Chapel, and charged him with carrying a concealed weapon and armed trespass. He is being held at Land O'Lakes jail on $5,150 bail.

The Ethnic Cleansing was from Kosovo
This is what our sons and our daughters fought for when Bill Clinton sent our troops into Bosnia to fight for the Muslims and kill the Christians.
Yes, we fought our allies in World War II, the Serbians, to pave the way for a militant Islamic state in the heart of Europe.
Serbs were once the majority in Kosovo, but today Kosovo is 97% Albanian. Who, then, was being “ethnically cleansed”? Within months of Albanians getting their NATO assistance against Serbia, they were on to Macedonia, where they now use the same arguments: that they’re being discriminated against and frozen out of jobs even though they hold government office and occupy the western half of the country as Greater Albania marches on, with U.S. blessing.
The “policy of repression, of ethnic cleansing, of systemic rape, pillage and murder” that Walker cites about Belgrade far better describes how the Albanian hyper-nationalists whom we side with were running the province for three decades leading up to Milosevic’s crackdown. But that’s been the trick all along: invert what was done to Serbs with what was done “by” Serbs, as Daniel Greenfield wrote for the website “Israel e-News” upon Kosovo’s independence: “Kosovo and the Palestinian Authority are both triumphs of terrorism, victories by racist nationalists whose aim has always been religious and ethnic cleansing, who have nevertheless managed to portray the countries they have torn to shreds as racist nationalists practicing ethnic cleansing.” (more here)

This is what is happening in Sweden, the second stage of a lawless and brutal civil war -- brought on by themselves, much as all of Europe has done. What is so terrifying is that America is following their lead in the appeasement of Islamic supremacists.
I am sure that a real attempt to bring the Muslim riots under control will be met by strong condemnation and rebuke by the OIC (Organization of the Islamic Conference)-driven UN.

Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt cautioned that the riots that blighted the Stockholm suburb of Rinkeby on Monday and Tuesday needed to be brought quickly under control.

"The consequences risk becoming very serious and could affect the people living in Rinkeby," he told the TT news agency.
Education Minister Jan Björklund and Integration Minister Nyamko Sabuni on Wednesday visited Rinkeby to take stock of the situation.
Up to 100 youths have rioted for two straight nights in the Stockholm suburb, throwing bricks, setting fires and attacking the local police station, police said Wednesday.
"They set fire to a school building ... They tried to set fire to the police station and other buildings and vehicles, but mostly they have thrown rocks and bricks at police and fire fighters," police spokesperson Mats Eriksson told AFP.
He said no one had so far been injured in the riots which began on Monday in the northern suburb long blighted by high levels of unemployment and home to a large number of first and second generation immigrants.
"The whole thing started when a group of young adults were not permitted to enter a junior high school dance. They got angry and started throwing rocks through the school windows," Eriksson said.
Up to 100 people went on a rampage, breaking 23 windows at the local police station and setting at least one car ablaze and leaving a school set up as a mentor programme for young people to find their way into the labour market, burned to the ground.
Three people were arrested late Monday, but had since been released, Eriksson said, adding that "I would say things got worse" Tuesday night, when the school and four or five cars were set on fire.
"Fire fighters were there but they couldn't approach the blaze (at the school building, which was basically burned to the ground), because they were under attack," he said.
Eriksson said local police in the western part of Stockholm would receive reinforcements from across the capital to try to calm tensions in Rinkeby.
"This is an extremely serious situation and we must bring it to an end as soon as possible, otherwise it will keep getting worse," he said mirroring Reinfeldt's words, adding the riots were "an attack on both the society as a whole and on the residents in the area."
