The SV annual convention goes to vote. The deranged junior partner in the current government coalition will among other proposals vote on a motion to use armed force against Israel should it attack Gaza.
The motion is the blood money required to pay off SV card carrying members who find it hard to accept that they have taken the nation to war, again. Last time it did so was back in 1999, when the party backed the NATO bombing of Serbia. As a result, we got ourselves involved in a war crimes probe because of high number of civilian casualties and bombing illegal targets.
Therefore, the only way it can be palatable to bomb Libya for these morally deranged people is if Israel can be bombed too.
Here is the less than lucid reasoning behind the motion:
- The credibility of the world community in its confrontation with the Gadafi regime is undermined when there is no reaction against other states in the region who commit injustices against civil population. The greater world community must therefore also react against Israeli air attacks on the Gaza strip.
Wow, a declaration of war from the governments very junior partner! And not to mention that thus Israel has become the only country in the world who will be denied the right to defend itself in the face of constant terrorism, rocket attacks against its own population. With a stroke of the pen, the entire body of international Law must be changed to accommodate for this perverse view, and taken to its logical conclusion, Norway would be unable to defend itself from attacks. Or maybe, we ought to bomb ourselves for bombing the Libyans?
But at least now we don’t have to deal with the lies and hypocrisy of this lunatic fringe group, at least they have come clean and admit that they hate the guts of every living Jew to the extent that they would gladly help to blow the country to pieces.
Roll over Ahmadinejad, even your antics look comical in comparison.
I wonder if this kind of extreme agitation and war mongering is even legal?
Please somebody, come and help us, we are in the hands of very evil people.
Prof. M. McGonagall
The good news is that the comments to an Aftenblodet article about this shows universal derision for the SV party.
Still, I've seen some people mention that the coalition decision to bomb Libya would lead to absurd ideas like this, and it appears that they are right. These so-called pacifists turn into warmongers when it comes to the idea of Jews defending themselves.

Israeli Missile Flames Iranian Tank
by Chuck Wolk
What you are about to watch is an actual event. The video was filmed by the Israeli military. It is a fully armored Syrian tank being hit by an Israeli laser-guided, steel-penetrating, phosphorous-filled "hand held" rocket. The rocket is small, very portable and is a tightly controlled weapon; each one is accounted for when they are checked out and back in. There must be no fewer than two soldiers present to verify the use of these rockets, and one witness must be a senior officer with a minimum of 10 years military service. The program and names of those involved are kept secret for obvious reason.
The Syrian tank was headed for one of Israel's settlements. There were four more tanks one mile to the rear of this tank. It would seem that after this one was destroyed, the others decided to scram. You can hear the ammunition inside the tank going off after the initial strike. As would be expected, all crew members were sent to Allah.
This event did not make the news, but it is an everyday event for Israeli forces. Unlike us, Israel does not allow for embed reporters or film crews not associated with the military.
Israel does this for their survival, not for the entertainment of the 24/7 cable news networks.

Pithy Platitudes for Israel
A 'think tank' called the Oxford Research Group (stated agenda: "promotes non-violent solutions to conflicts") has made the brilliant pronouncement that an Israeli attack on Iran would "be the start of a protracted conflict that would be unlikely to prevent the eventual acquisition of nuclear weapons by Iran and might even encourage it." Of course, the 'think tank' didn't think a whole lot about what the consequences of a nuclear Iran might be, nor did it even think about what other measures short of an Israeli attack might stop Iran from going nuclear. The Oxford report estimated it might take three to seven years for Iran to develop a small arsenal of nuclear weapons if it decided to do so. It said there was no firm evidence such a decision had been taken by the Islamic Republic.Brilliant analysis. Where can I get a throwing around pithy platitudes like that?
Any Israeli strike would be focused not only on destroying nuclear and missile targets but would also hit factories and research centers and even university laboratories to damage Iranian expertise, the report said.
This would cause many civilian casualties, it added.
Military action would include the direct bombing of targets in Tehran and probably include attempts to kill technocrats who managed Iran's nuclear and missile programs, the report said.
Yes, of course, an Israeli strike against Iran could lead to a long war. But what are the choices? The US under Obama is more likely to start rounding up Republican supporters than it is to bomb Iran. And if there is no strike, we might find ourselves living with an Iranian nuclear weapon - one that could even be set off by Hamas or Hezbullah at their whim.

Two Days Before the Israeli Attack

Hamas on Wednesday remained as defiant as ever and said it would continue to fire rockets at Israel as an act of "self-defense."

Hamas also mocked what it described as the "state of confusion" in Israel over how to react to the latest spree of rocket and mortar attacks.
The movement also claimed that the Egyptians had given Israel a "green light" to launch a limited military operation in the Gaza Strip to overthrow the Hamas government.
