NY Muslim Honor Killer Gets 25 Years to Life

Honor killings should get the death penalty but at least the judge imposed the maximum.

New York TV executive Muzzammil "Mo" Hassan sentenced to 25 years to life in his
wife's beheading.ABC News

Erie County Court Judge Thomas Franczyk sentenced Muzzammil "Mo" Hassan this
morning to the maximum sentence of 25 years to life for the brutal murder of his
wife, Aasiya, in the couple's Orchard Park television studio two years ago.

Moderate Muslim Moe Hassan gets 25-to-life for the honor beheading of his wife Aasiya. After repeatedly beating her for years (also sanctioned under Islamic law). And that means that the Buffalo-area Muslim community writ large ought to be on trial as well; they knew of the brutal violence Aasiya suffered and apparently kept silent. The Muslim community knew of Hassan's abuse.

But he was building bridges.

The week before, the victim had filed for divorce and obtained a court order of protection against Hassan.

"Everyone in the Muslim community was aware" that Aasiyah Hassan was "going through abuse" before her husband beheaded her

Muzzammil “Mo” HASSAN was the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, a Buffalo, NY-based Islamic television Network. He founded it in 2004 amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.

Bridge builder, like Ra-oof.

UPDATE: Moe tried to switch attorneys before sentencing. An update on this story. (thanks to Marisol)

Judge Franczyk sentenced Hassan to 25 years to life behind bars. The judge also granted an order of protection for Hassan's children, so Hassan must avoid all contact with them.

The prosecutor said his children are so afraid of him (rightly so), they asked for protection. She also noted that Hassan has written a number of letters, expressing regret, but still immediately denying responsibility and claiming victimhood.

Before the sentencing, there Hassan requested a new attorney be allowed to represent him for the sentencing and in the future. Due to delays that would cause to the sentencing, the judge denied the request.

Both sides made brief comments before the judge spoke and sentenced Hassan....

Crime Without Punishment

My lady friend was a deeply religious Jewess. There was a scandal concerning a local Rabbi and his eleven-year-old daughter. My friend refused to believe the evidence or the Court verdicts.Somewhere in the human psyche lies the ability to complain about our leaders without a corresponding urge to punish them for criminal doings. It's considered bad form. The current Administration has carried this to the logical conclusion. Forgiven of preemptive war, rendition, torture and crimes against humanity, the perpetrators conduct fraudulent bailouts without any attempt at concealment. They are confident neither the public or the Democrats will do anything about the situation.

Punishment not Rhetoric

Punishment not Rhetoric

Concerned Americans could combine to form class action lawsuits in Europe. Charges would include crimes against humanity and murder one. Anyone who promoted, funded or covered-up the illegal activities in Iraq could face trial. They would come from the three branches of government.

If the US authorities refuse to co-operate, the trials could be held in absentia. Then, the perpetrators would realize they had not gotten away with anything. Eventually, they will be punished.
