Peaceful PalArab weekend

Discovery of an honor killing, where the woman's uncle didn't like her choice in marriage partners.

The execution-style murder of an alleged "collaborator" with Israel.

Another execution-style murder in Al-Eizariya.

A man in Jericho was stabbed to death as well.

Sounds like Hamas is influencing things in the West Bank already!

Guess Who Blames Israel for Arrigoni's Murder

ossibly the strongest voice in the years-long struggle to free Palestine, 36-year old Vittorio Arrigoni, a journalist and activist with the International Solidarity Movement, was kidnapped in Gaza.

One person who knows the steadfast dedication of Vittorio 'Vic' Arrigoni is our writer Ken O'Keefe, also in Gaza, who stated the bottom line on this sad day.

"Who benefits? This is the question we must ask first when something like Vic Arrigoni being kidnapped happens. The answer is, Israel; nobody benefits more than Israel."

"So whether they are false-Muslims or agents of Israel, those that have Vic are serving Israel."

Well, that was predictable.

Losing Our Sons Trailer

Announcing the upcoming release of "Losing our Sons," a documentary film investigation into the first successful homegrown Islamist terrorist attack on American soil. This is the story of a young African-American man from Memphis who converted to radical Islam, went to Yemen for terrorism training, and came back to murder a young Marine in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Melvin Bledsoe's testimony at Peter King's radicalization hearings defined the issue, the enormity of the problem. From my perspective, the most compelling witness was Melvin Bledsoe. Amid the silliness of Baca, the deception of Congressman Hakim Muhammad Ellison, and fairy talemeister Jasser, Bledsoe had no agenda. He best illustrates the essential struggle.

Gay Saudi Prince Kills Black Sex Slave

Gay Saudi Prince, Grandson of King Abdullah, Brutally Murders His Black Sex Slave

"It is clear that his abuse of Bandar was not confined simply to physical beatings.

"There is clear evidence, over and above the bite marks, that there was also a sexual element to his mistreatment of the victim." (more here)

It seems to me that Landmark hotel security turned a blind eye to the elevator beating (caught on camera) because the Saudi prince was ............. a Muslim prince.

Saud Bin Abdulaziz Bin Nasir al Saud, 34, who is a grandson of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah, killed Bandar Abdullah Abdulaziz on February 15 after abusing him for weeks, the court heard.

The 32-year-old victim was found with severe injuries including bite marks on his cheeks in a bloodstained bed in the suite at the Landmark Hotel, which he was sharing with the prince, prosecutors said.(here)

The prince had attacked his servant on several previous occasions, including one that was caught on security camera footage in the hotel's lift in January, he said.

The jury was shown the footage in which Abdulaziz was seen cowering as Saud rained blows on his head.

The Saudi prince had admitted to the lesser charge of manslaughter but denied murder and a separate count of grievous bodily harm. Manslaughter?

Bloodstains found on the pillow and the room were "consistent with the victim having been the subject of a series of separate assaults before he was killed", he added.

Islamic Honor Killing in Italy

Latest Islamic Honor Killing in Italy: Muslim Husband and Son Stone Mom to Death Who Tried to Protect Their Daughter from Honor Killing

Atlas reader Adam sent this story,

"My Italian isn't good, but this is the gist of it: In Modena, Italy, a father beat up his daughter for refusing an arranged marriage. His son (her brother) helped him with the attack. Her mother tried to intervene to save her, but the two men (her husband and son) turn on the mother and kill her with a stone. The daughter survived, barely"

Honor Killing

Another young woman tortured and murdered to add to the gruesome gallery..... The horror of these young girls, terror stricken victims, who live in homemade concentration camps, is given the imprimatur of the West in its complicit silence -- the urbane face of bloodthirsty savagery. The West looks away and more girls lead desperate, brutal lives. The "Feminists" look away, and pretend it is outside the realm of women's rights -- leftist tools of Islamic jihad. These useful idiots are on someone's payroll, or they fear Islam. Either way, get out of the way. Shame on all of you for failing our women, our children, our girls, our very way of life. How dare they throw away our superior culture with both

Honor Killings

Palestinians: Family killed boy, 15, over Israel collaboration By The Associated Press Tags: collaborator, palestinian
Palestinian police on Thursday said a 15-year-old boy was found hanged in a West Bank barn, and said his father, uncle and cousin confessed to the slaying.

Police said family members told them they believed the boy collaborated with the Israeli army.

But authorities said that they are investigating other motives as well, as it is unlikely someone so young would be recruited as an informer.
Palestinian courts officials on Sunday said a Palestinian woman suspected of spying for Israel may be sentenced to death.

The officials said the 22-year-old woman worked as a collaborator after obtaining a divorce from her husband, who forced her to work as a prostitute, making her a social outcast in Palestinian society.

Palestinian military judge Abdul Karim al-Masri said the woman confessed to passing low-level information and refused a lawyer. "She didn't hurt anybody except herself," he said.

In the past two years, more than 30 Palestinians have been sentenced to death for spying, but none of the sentences have been carried out.

Jordan: No Honour in Killing '
by Rami Abdelrahman

For the past three weeks, Jordanian bloggers have been renewing calls against "honor killings," following a court conviction of a father and his two sons for beating his daughter to death for "going out with full make up."

The case sent waves of awe and shock across the Jordanian blogosphere and some of the mainstream newspapers, as this was the seventh case of women being murdered brutally by their relatives on the suspicion that they had committed "adultery" this year alone.

Blogger Kinzi was among the first to call for Jordanian male bloggers to break their silence about this topic.

"You all rose well when it was Gaza. This time, the evil is within our own land, perpetuated by our own laws, executed by Jordanian hands. Don’t you care as much for your fellow female citizens as you do for innocent Gazan women?"

The Arab Observer answered with a post initiating an email campaign:

"It is time for our local media, whether it is printed or online, to stand up to their responsibilities towards Jordanian citizens. It is time for you all to raise up your voices and lobby to abolish such retarded law. We awe it to ourselves, to our mothers, to our daughters and to our wives, we ought to provide them with dignity, equality, and safety. No Jordanian woman should fear the prosecution of a male relative. No man should get away with murder under the name of honor."

Jordanian law stipulates that a man who finds his wife or a related female engaged in "adultery" and kills or wounds her as a result of this discovery in a "fit of fury" receives a reduced sentence according to articles 340 and 98 of the Penal code. The Jordanian parliament, with tribal and Islamic MPs leading majority of seats, has failed twice in 2003 to reverse or change these laws. Seven cases of "honor killings" took place that year.

Joining other bloggers, Qwaider wrote in support of stopping honor killings, saying there is no proof whatsoever that this is related to Islamic laws and teachings.

Many think that honor killing has it's roots in the Islamic Shariah. Quite frankly nothing can be farther from the truth. In fact, Islam doesn't take people's lives as award for committing adultery without proof... You really need 4 people to see them in the act as witnesses... The punishment for any unmarried person (male or females) is few flogs (or the modern equivalent).

He called upon fellow bloggers to start "a campaign to protest the unjust, inhuman, and extremely degrading dishonor killing pardons that are spelled out in the law."

The calls were echoed in the Syrian blogosphere.

According to blogger Bam Bam, there has been little interaction between Jordanian and Syrian bloggers. But the recent campaign found support from Syrian bloggers as seen in posts written by Abu Fares, Razan, and last but not least KJ who wrote a fictional story entitled "why I killed my sister."

Bam Bam goes on to say this is high time to ask all the tough question:

“Are honor crimes an isolated occurrence or a culmination of several events that lead to them ? how frequent do those events occur and if I reduce the occurrence of the most frequent event can I reduce honor crimes? Why do people commit honor crimes? is it because of religion , to protect social status and reputation, or some other reasons?"
Just as bloggers continued to spread these messages, another killing took place - a 19-year-old man was charged of stabbing his 21-year-old sister, just after she was released from the governor's protection. He confessed to the murder, saying his sister "often left their family home to go to an unknown destination."
Blogger Kinzi commented on the sentence, saying it is an " improvement from the six months slap on the hand," since the man was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison. She added that blogger Naseem Tarawnah had written about the murder when it took place in 2007. He then wrote that the victim, as in many similar cases, was not sexually active.
It is estimated that an average of 18 to 20 cases of "honor killings" are reported in Jordan every year, according to this televised report.

Albert Anastasia and George Bush

America prefers a rich murderer to a rich adulterer. The Congress should have impeached GWB three years ago. The president got away with torture and murder after Clinton went down on oral sex in the oval office. This affair cost Al Gore votes and possibly the election.

The Republican hate machine will try to link Barack Obama to his fellow Democrat John Edwards. As heterosexuals, they incur the special wrath of unforgiving doodads.

In future Democratic literature should link political figures with their crimes i.e. cluster bomber Rice, mad bomber McCain and Torture Cheney.

War on Torture

The Justice Department has released a 370-page report on the government’s use of torture. It gives credence to many reports made by sources outside the Main Stream Media. The FBI has expressed outrage at the torture techniques employed particularly because they have proven ineffective.

Why have the Agencies waited a decade to report this? For the first time there is a possibility many of their employees will face prosecution for crimes against humanity and murder.

Previously, they had operated without fear of punishment. President Bush has issued many directives to define torture to his lights and to absolve potential perpetrators from guilt. After the Supreme Court failed to back up the various bans that make torture illegal, it ceased to protect ordinary citizens from this abuse.

Many media workers also knew the massive and widespread nature of the crimes, but chose to sanitize them or to cover them completely. The media supports the claim that torture is effective. They maintain those who resist torture as a national policy are anti-American maybe even traitors.

This spin on torture has infected many US voters. The Republican nominee is an advocate of torture.

Death of the DC Madam

How is it that all of our institutions have failed us in the space of seven years?

Almost every person in a position of power seems to have joined the lunatic fringe. Of course, law enforcement will never reveal any details enclosed in the DC Madam's little black book. They will be too busy blackmailing the Madam's patrons.

Every whistle blower should have his material ready for worldwide distribution at a moment's notice. Why do you think Sibel Edmonds is still alive?

I'm sorry the DC Madam’s information didn't reach us and I offer my sympathy to her family and friends.

Jews Without Sin

This is a reaction to an Arab propaganda piece. In it two men dressed as West Bank settlers describe their plan to blow up the entrance to a Muslim school for little girls. I refuse to show you the video, but I will assert here it is a fake.

My guess is the bombers were Americans. Their Hebrew was heavily accented and they had different facial expressions from Israelis. Further, no native would ever talk about such a mission planned or completed.
Jews rarely murder anyone or any other living thing. You can't buy a fly swatter in all of Israel, for example. It is forbidden to prune a living plant or a shrub.
Israelis have many faults, but I have never met an outsider who was aware of a single one.

America is Her Own Worst Enemy

Ho Chi Minh relied on a seeming paradox. More troops the westerners sent to Asia hastened their inevitable defeat. Muhammad Ali defined it for non-Muslims as the Rope-a-Dope.

Eventually, the superior force reverses its energies to destroy itself. Overseas, the US war toys have proven ineffective. The Americans have no idea what works against Asians, but they know full well how to suppress their countrymen.

Of course, Asians must raise moral objections to the massive killing projects so favored in the west. The carnage will nevertheless continue thus speeding the demise of the American experiment.

These themes and trends have been sixty years in the making. It is folly to believe the 2008 elections will change any of this.

I have but one suggestion. The Muslims have taken over the UN Human Rights Commission. They may be amenable to charging US officials with war crimes and murder.

The White House Plague

We can agree the White House has subverted our democracy, enriched their pals and manipulated the media.

This suffices to seize power, to loot the country and to leave town before the yokels sense the scam and send the posse.

Accusing them of more than this misses the mark. The Bushies are not smart enough to ruin the nation so completely.

The State Department sold US nuclear secrets to the highest bidders, but this program dates back to at least 1996.

The CIA has murdered at least six millions civilians since 1950 [not counting victims in Iraq]. They wrote the book on how to make enemies and to terrify friends.

The White House never intended to ruin the economy. Why would thieves prompt a bank to go bust before the heist was complete?

The US military has been a joke since it last won in 1945.

Most Iraqis

What We Learn about Iraq

Our troops can suffer extended duty in the combat zone of up to 18 months. This contributes to an abnormally high suicide rate [120 per week as calculated by a 2005 survey]. The President can issue a “stop-loss” order to extend troops when their contract expires.

Winter Soldier Kristofer Shaun Goldsmith testified to this and to his suicide attempt. Anyone can Google the fuller story of these tragedies.

Sectarianism doesn’t lie at the root of the conflict.

Maliki and his Assembly receive backing from only one-third of the population. Maliki’s faction lost support:

  1. When they failed to deliver basic services.
  2. As they refused to expel the Americans.
  3. When they favored privatization of the oil fields.
  4. When they refused all attempts at reconciliation towards a democratic future for Iraq.

The opposition nationalists are also mainly Shiite. They favor a central government with enough power to expel the Americans and the big oil companies. Sadr had the strength to force a unilateral cease fire last year. Falsely, the Americans claim it was the surge that lessened the hostilities.

Indeed, the US and Maliki took advantage to murder nationalists. They threatened mutiny if they were not re-armed to defend themselves.

Even with the USAF bombing the nationalists, I doubt if the fighting will end quickly.

Yesterday, I saw a video of the Charley Rose Show. Two Iraqis told the facts calmly to him. They shocked Rose, who had apparently taken the US MSM lies hook, line and sinker.

Shrpaev's Last Post: Creating Dissenters for Sport

Shurpaev’s Last Post

'Russia: Two Dagestani Journalists Killed'

by Veronica Khokhlova

Shurpaev's last blog entry (RUS) has received much attention both in the Russian blogosphere and in the media. In it, he wrote that he'd been "blacklisted" by a Dagestani newspaper critical of the republic's president:

Here we go! I'm a [dissident] now! Not sure if I should laugh or cry. I already wrote here that there's a battle going on at one Dagestani paper between its journalists and founders. The latter, according to the journalists, wanted to use them as informational killers. The potential killers [the journalists] rebelled. But all this business is way too serious and I don't understand it. But here's what blew me away. The founders came up with a list of people who it's forbidden to publish in this paper, mention them or [...] even interact with them in the newspaper's building. And there I am, in the front row! Heading the list! The funniest thing is that I've never written anything subversive for this paper - only notes on my travels, in which I did not touch upon the political situation in Zimbabwe, but just describe where I'd been, what I'd eaten and who I'd seen. I haven't taken part in the political life of the republic [Dagestan] or even of my region, because I'm lazy and,
in general, I had to go to the gym and take my daughter to the movies and to the playground. And then boom! Such a turn of events... Perhaps the [newspaper's] founders know something about me that I do not know myself? Maybe I should do the "suitcase-train station-Israel" thing, so as not to become a second [Khodorkovsky]? Anyways. Matilda [a frequent anonymous addressee of Shurpaev's blog postings]! Knit me some woolen socks. Just in case. The size is 43 1/2. [...]

Among other individuals on the newspaper's "black list" was Gadzhi Abashilov, head of Dagestan's state TV. Around 8 PM on Friday, Abashilov was shot dead in the republic's capital, Makhachkala.

Timur Aliev posted some thoughts (RUS) on this murder as well:

The second murder of a Dagestani journalist in two days - now, following Ilyas Shurpaev (in Moscow), Gadzhi Abashilov has been killed in Makhachkala.

I don't know whether these two murders are connected. But here's one version (I do not possess any insider information whatsoever). Abashilov was a pro-government journalist, a media bureaucrat - head of the "Dagestan" [State TV and Radio Company]. Ilyas [Shurpaev] could have also been perceived to have ties with the government - because he worked for [state-owned Channel One] - the main federal channel. Both were on some list of journalists who had been banned from being published and mentioned in an independent (and, lately, more of an oppositional) Dagestani newspaper. Thus, they were both identified more like pro-government people.

This leads to two conclusions (of course, only in case these two murders originate from the same source) - either the opposition is retaliating, or someone wants to compromise the opposition - namely, [Suleiman Kerimov] (who has been mentioned as the newspaper's sponsor). [...]

According to media reports on the ongoing investigation, the killings of Shurpaev and Abashilov are not connected.

Killed for Nothing in Trinidad

Club Soda and Salt, WordPress

Given the drumbeat of murder reports from Trinidadian newspapers, there’s always a fear of becoming desensitized to the violence. Sometimes, though, you get a heartbreaking incident like this:

Sherwyn Joseph scolded a four-year-old boy for breaking eggs and was shot dead minutes after the child’s relative threatened him for what he did on Thursday night in Sea Lots, Port of Spain.

Joseph worked at the National Flour Mills, but that night he was at home when he saw the four-year-old and his friend, also aged four, breaking the neighbour’s duck eggs.

“What allyuh doing that for?” he reportedly shouted and “tapped” one of the boys on the head. The other boy (Joseph’s relative) was not hit. Both children then ran off.

The other [not tapped] boy ran to his female relative as well. She asked him what happened and he told her. Enraged, she walked over to Joseph’s house and started to “cuss him out” for scolding the boy. He argued back and explained to her why he shouted at the boy. They argued. It was a heated quarrel.

Finally, she walked off, shouting at him, “your shot call!”

This captures so much. Not only is it sad to read about a 27 year old begin shot over something silly, the fact is that the reaction of that “female relative” is all part and parcel of the mess we’re in. Someone scolds your child (completely legitimately!) and your reaction is “nobody talk to my child that way” and to have him shot? Ultimately, this man was shot for doing what so many of us lack the courage to do: taking responsibility for the children in his community, instead of just ignoring them.

It’s just unbelievably depressing. And it happened in Sea Lots, so no-one will care.
