The Penalties of Ignorance

It's a shame that Aljazeera/English did not become a major US network. It enlightens the viewer on all things Asian. For a nation that has wasted about half her Federal budget in Asian incursions since the advent of the Cold War, an objective observer might assume the Americans would have made the slightest effort to understand her various enemies.
I present a small example. Nineteen Arab terrorists cut the northern border wire fence to enter Israel. They proceeded into a valley where the border patrol intercepted them. The invaders exchanged fire until they were dead.
Nineteen terrorist high jacked US airliners, crashed them into buildings and killed almost 3,000 Americans. In retaliation, the US invaded two sovereign nations, killed over 1.3 millions civilians and made four millions homeless. Understandably, many US citizens and officials fear reprisals if they dared speak out against such atrocities. The UN and the Arab States stand mute. Instead, they maintain the propaganda barrage against Israel.
At the same time, the US refuses to prosecute the governmental and corporate traitors in her midst. She ignores theft, espionage, fraud, murder, torture and crimes against humanity. The perpetrators read as a cross-section of Who's Who.
"Judaism itself was created less than 300 years ago" – Shingo. Reform Judaism was a reaction when Napoleon opened the professions to the Jews. Modern Orthodoxy was a reaction to Reform. The Conservative branch started in Cincinnati, Ohio, to absorb the American Jewish experience. The 78% who supported Obama came from all three groups expecting a peace candidate.
The Brookings Institution via the Alexander Hamilton Project has controlled Democratic politics since before the Clinton administration. Early in 2007 Barack Obama spoke as the future Presidential nominee. Shortly thereafter, he enjoyed the flood of corporate contributions. To gain the votes of the left, he made the populist noises expected by Progressives. Once elected, he veered to the right, a champion of Wall Street. We doubt there will be much meaningful legislation on climate control, EFCA, health reform, education and alternative energy.
The US politicians and the people decide nothing. Technocrats and mindless robots have got us by the short hairs.
What caused the stock market crash? To handle the immense volume of transactions, the nerds built a computer model based on Alan Greenspan's assumptions of market-clearing mechanisms, competition in the factor markets and a perpetual housing and stock market bubble. When the bubble burst, the model turned upside down. It bought bad stocks and unloaded good ones. In less than a day the worldwide economy was in recession and nobody knew how to fix it.

Statesman Obama

Statesman Obama

The world sees America bumbling about as a rogue nation with no discipline. In a moment the behemoth can set whole continents aflame, or crush all hope for an economically secure future with justice.
Barack Obama offers hope to the world. Even before he set a foot in Asia he had come to an agreement to propose a 16-month systematic withdrawal from Iraq.

The lunatic right howls at the loss of their chances for continued war profiteering. They accuse Obama of consorting with the enemy. The common people wanting to stop the bloodshed, I remember them as the folks we invaded to help.

Throughout the conflict McCain looks like a Handi-Wipe gone wrong. He has the lost look of the last of his Party to run for President.

The Great Black Hope

The US authorities have banned factual information from Americans, as hard reality reporting might cause the poor dears a trauma. They may discuss the size of his ears and the race orientation of his pastor, but nothing of substance.
Barack Obama is the first human being to run for US public office since the 1960's. He is being marketed worldwide as a man of color who is intent on following a moral path for the benefit of his fellow citizens. He is a reason to hope.
Asians have tired of degenerate gunslingers who throw their weight around like bullies in a saloon.

Asia is Progressing

During the past 3 generations, the schools have deteriorated badly and dumb college kids reflect this. The standards are much higher in Asia for students with brains. They get essentially a free ride so long as they perform well.
Corporate America prefers employees unaware of their human rights. They need slaves not whistle blowers.
3.5 billions Asians are willing to work, scrimp and save to get where we are now. 500 millions of them now live as well as we do.

America is Her Own Worst Enemy

Ho Chi Minh relied on a seeming paradox. More troops the westerners sent to Asia hastened their inevitable defeat. Muhammad Ali defined it for non-Muslims as the Rope-a-Dope.

Eventually, the superior force reverses its energies to destroy itself. Overseas, the US war toys have proven ineffective. The Americans have no idea what works against Asians, but they know full well how to suppress their countrymen.

Of course, Asians must raise moral objections to the massive killing projects so favored in the west. The carnage will nevertheless continue thus speeding the demise of the American experiment.

These themes and trends have been sixty years in the making. It is folly to believe the 2008 elections will change any of this.

I have but one suggestion. The Muslims have taken over the UN Human Rights Commission. They may be amenable to charging US officials with war crimes and murder.

Living in Asia...

Living in Asia, I am constantly amazed by American attitudes. They constantly talk only to one another, as if 'foreigners' do not exist. Some human rights advocates may mention us as collateral damage to prove a political point. The Americans kill 15,000 Iraqis per month, while Saddam rarely topped 1,500 for example.
The consensus among Iraqis is the Americans should clear out of Asia as quickly as possible. Nobody here wants to suffer radioactive fall out from a preemptive nuclear strike against Iran. The Iraqis are like everyone else who wants to control his oil production.
Aside from the parent Global Voices itself, Voices without Votes gives westerners a first look at the Asian culture and outlook.
I prefer reading about people to bombing them.

Asians Rope-A-Dope Americans

Our Asian disarray and weakness have often tempted tyrants. We remember Alexander the Great, the Romans, the Crusaders, Napoleon and Hitler to mention a few. Americans should study a little history. If we don't eat an invader, we absorb him. The occupiers’ great grandchildren had Asiatic eye folds indistinguishable from the general population.
We don't need violence to conquer. If we play rope-a-dope with the USA, the Chinese will be able to buy her.

"[Y]ou have [a] network of people who obtain certain information and they take it out and sell it to … whomever would be the highest bidder. Then you have people who would be bringing into the country narcotics from the East, and their connections. [It] is only then that you really see the big picture."

The Folly of Preemptive War in Asia

GWB should have begun his reading with the UN Charter and the US Constitution, both of which prohibit our country from waging a preemptive war. Only the Congress can declare war and authorize funds for it.
There is no cure for greed and hate. If these emotions make war a necessary evil, then we must prepare for perpetual conflict. This is the creed of the military/industrial complex, which has ruled the USA since the 1950’s.
To me moderate Islamists accept our bribes and do not make threats against us while the radicals behave in the opposite manner. This can change in a minute because most Muslim nations are tribal and despotic. For this reason human rights is a foreign concept like democracy a tool for the colonialists.
The Muslims prefer the rule of a vile domestic tyrant over a benign foreign one.Typically, Asia absorbs invaders eventually becoming undifferentiated from the natives. Land war in Asia is complete folly for westerners.
